Wildflowers

I was not prepared for the work it takes to simply exist in this world.

A world that expects so much at every turn.

A world that could have been sunrises and riverside sits.

A world that became systems, politics, division, and greed.

I was not ready to learn that all that we were taught isn’t what there is.

That the fields of wildflowers could have covered the whole landscape.

That the insects had a home, the weeds grew freely, and the birds could breathe.

I wasn’t ready for the level of returning that is required for me to truly be.

To exist amongst the wildflowers, I need to become just that.

I need to become wild.

Return to my basic thoughts.

Remember the wonder that is my child mind.

When I look at the horizon I take in the moon, the stars, the sun.

When I choose to witness what is instead of what isn’t, I release myself from the shackles of a world devised to keep me small.

A world built to wilt my petals, shorten my lifespan, and stunt my growth.

When I go within, I can bloom wherever I am planted.

I can grow to my fullest heights and show the wildflowers around me how beautiful they can be.

When I water myself with truth, love, compassion, and grace, I bloom.

I am whole.

I am a wildflower in a sea of beautiful wildflowers.
