Autumn

A picturesque autumn scene featuring a winding path through a vibrant forest of red and orange leaves.

The air moves softer, like the harbinger of the silence that creeps in slowly, bringing the darkest of days.

A cool kiss of relief.

An acknowledgement to our bodies as the sun alignes with our most sacred bits, the parts that awaken in the darkness; the halting, shining light on the deepest, darkest corridors in your mind, boarded up by the cardboard boxes that are your overachievments.

The walls were never meant to last.

You weren’t meant to ignore the space between solstices, but to embrace its power, for the power of darkness is light.

The gift given from staring into the abyss so vividly, with full intention, is night vision.

Every bit of darkness that befalls you will only prove as a stepping stone to the next chapter, your vision through the darkness lights the way for you and all that surround you.

Autumn grants a steady cool down after a long, hot season of building, growing, and shifting.

We arrive at the desired conclusion, looking back upon our accomplishments, remembering to stay humble, but celebrate.

As the days grow heavy, rich with all the emotions you’ve avoided being too busy to withdraw long enough to feel, it is up to you to move through it or allow it to move through your life, wreaking havoc.

I accept the halting. I recede, feeling hopeful, knowing nothing outside of myself can take me fully out of life besides death.

I am free.

I am whole.

I can face this Autumn.
